Create Traditional Ukrainian Pysanky Egg workshop.
Learn how to make Easter eggs in the Ukrainian tradition, using the batik or lost wax method.
All supplies will be provided.
Christine will guide you through all the steps of transforming a plain egg into a work of art!
This is a centuries-old technique, and you will learn about the symbols used.
The basic process is drawing using a "kistka" with melted beeswax on the egg in consecutive dying of colors, from light to dark. The wax preserves each color it covers. Once the final dye is applied, all the wax is removed by melting it with a candle flame and removing with a tissue.
One Ukrainian star design will be demonstrated to the class. Variations are welcome!
