“Enter as strangers, leave as friends.”

Jerry and Olga, owners of The Dutch Cottage Tavern, came into the business with no experience 34 years ago. Having just graduated from Villanova, the pair found themselves taking over an old, rural, Pennsylvania Dutch tavern that was sold by the previous owners. With a 22 and 23-year-old taking over a bar without any experience, Jerry and Olga had to work extremely hard to make it work. Both of them fell in love with Skippack and its community very quickly. Jerry and Olga evolved the old tavern into what it is today. The tavern opened up for breakfast in 1993 which attracted a lot of new customers and families. They weren’t just a shot and a beer place anymore. Jerry married Olga’s college roommate Genny, who came on board and together made it what it is today.

After 10 years of early mornings and late nights, the owners needed a change. They realized they can’t be everything to everyone so why not be just what we are, a local, fun tavern.  Jerry, Olga, and Genny added a game room back in, started karaoke on Friday nights, DJ’s on Saturday nights and started attracting a younger crowd, with the help of having local bands play too. This all helped them grow to what they are today; a casual, friendly bar that serves great food and drinks, cleanliness is a priority and having a friendly staff that becomes family.

5 years ago they renovated the downstairs room and now offer a catering party room that has been a big success for The Dutch Cottage Tavern. The space is offered for meetings, birthday parties, benefits, union meetings, and so much more.

In 2019, The Dutch Cottage Tavern is looking forward to its outdoor expansion. An outdoor bar and porch is being built that will have a horse shoe pit, corn hole toss and outdoor fire pits. The owners plan on making themselves a place where nonsmokers will be happy too.

The Dutch Cottage Tavern prides itselves on serving great quality bar food.  The chefs make their famous burgers fresh, they have hand cut French fries, great cheese steaks and their wings are spectacular. Chef Mike has made the menu diverse and appealing to more people. What makes the menu so special is that its available until 1:30am!

The Dutch Cottage Tavern stands out from the rest because they are a friendly bar where “everyone knows your name”! Our mission statement is “Enter as strangers, leave as friends”. They want people to come in and feel comfortable to join in any conversation at the bar. No one gets excluded. They are just that kind of place.  The customers say, “No matter where we go, we always end up at the Dutch”.

The Dutch Cottage Tavern welcomes everyone to enjoy all of what they have to offer. You can find The Dutch Tavern located at 1264 Bridge Rd, Skippack 19473. Stop by or visit their Website, Facebook, or by phone at (610) 584-9961.
